Strategic Facilities Planning provides a context for effective facility decision-making. Principles are described in Strategic Capital Development (co-authored with Eva Klein, APPA, 2010). The strategic facilities plan links overall institutional strategic goals and mission with a realistic and credible long-range development plan. In simple terms, the Strategic Facilities Plan answers the question, "How do we best deploy our financial resources to ensure that facilities support overall institutional mission and objectives effectively and efficiently?" The strategic facilities plan ensures that the most appropriate facilities are available to support the mission, goals, and objectives of an organization.
